Our home sweet Los Angeles home
We are tucked up in the hills of a peaceful neighborhood on LA's east side, and we absolutely love it here. We moved in at the end of August 2015, when our son had just turned 1 and we were outgrowing our current home - a small 1,000 sqft 1940's bungalow just down the hill from where we are now. We had been on the hunt for our dream 1960's mid century home, and we knew the only way we would be able to afford it in this crazy Los Angeles real estate market was to find a place that had good bones but needed some love. And lucky for us, most other buyers were scared away from this place because the first level needs a total makeover.
It didn't scare us away... so this is our project! Our dream home in the making. (more details on the inside to come.)
Starting a home renovation project is both exciting and daunting. I spent hours pouring over inspiration on Pinterest and Houzz, (which by the way, if you are not on Houzz you must check it out immediately. I am a Houzz junkie in a major way.) I had lots of great ideas, but when it came time to putting together the game plan, I was at a loss. (so I procrastinated by browsing Houzz for another few days!)
So if you are like me, a little guidance wouldn't hurt to get you started. I've put together what I've learned so far during the pre-construction phase which we are just beginning. I'll outline the main steps for how to get started on your own home renovation in these next few posts. Good luck my fellow renovation warriors!
