Bathroom Plumbing

Bathroom Plumbing

Plumbing does not sound glamorous, and indeed it is not!  It's messy, complicated and best left to the professionals.  We got 2 estimates from 2 different plumbers who came to scope out the project - the first followed up with a proper estimate, and the second literally sent a 1 line text message with a price. (Seriously?!) The first estimate was 2x the price, but suffice to say we ended up going with him. :)

Moving around bathroom fixtures is no easy task, but given the new layout of the bathroom we had to do some re-arranging in this pretty tiny space.  In place of the stall shower, we are putting in a tub and shower.  We had to move the bathroom door, which means we had to move the toilet next to bathtub, and that doesn't leave room for a double sink so we'll replace with a single.

I don't speak "plumbing" so the details of this project were in the hands of Kris and the plumbers.  Definitely helpful to have a drawing of the layout including dimensions and the manufacturer spec sheets for each fixture.

It took about 5 days to get the job done.  While it's not pretty yet, it is coming together slowly but surely!  Next for the bathroom will be sourcing the tile, which I'm looking forward to!

The original bathroom, purple and mirrors... need I say more on why this had to go?

Moving the plumbing for the toilet required cutting the concrete slab and digging a huge hole.

That is a huge pile of dirt!

Plumbing moved, concrete poured & tub set!

Here is my inspiration for the vanity, floor & tub tile.
